Black poui "Delta" - Jacaranda mimosifolia.
This elegant plant from the Bignoniaceae family is grown indoors as an ornamental foliage plant. Of particular decorative value are the delicate light green lacy leaves, similar to fern or mimosa leaves, up to 45 cm long. Their beauty evokes genuine admiration. With proper care, jacaranda reaches a height of 2 m.
The plant loves bright light and develops well in a warm, sunny room. It requires moderate watering with warm, soft water from spring to autumn, limited in winter, only as the top layer of soil dries out, as well as frequent spraying of the leaves. During the rest period, the plant is placed in a bright room with an air temperature of about +15+16 °C. In winter, due to lack of light, jacaranda can shed its leaves, but in spring the foliage is completely restored. It reproduces well by seeds, which in the spring, after being soaked in water for a day, are placed in containers with a diameter of 12-15 cm. The soil used is light and loose with a high peat content until germination (be sure to arrange drainage). At a soil temperature of +20+25 °C, shoots appear in 2-4 weeks. As soon as the seedlings grow to 5-7 cm in height, they are picked.
The soil substrate for plants consists of two parts of turf, one part of leaf soil with the addition of sand. Large specimens can be trimmed. They are used for interior landscaping, placing them in well-lit places in rooms, halls, vestibules.

A beautiful flowering landscape specimen, 30 to 50 feet tall and 40 to 60 feet wide. Needs lots of space to grow. Exceedingly numerous blue to purple flowers, 1 1/2 inches long, appearing in late spring before the leaves, covering the entire tree. Native to subtropical Brazil, prefers full sun. Highly drought tolerant. Fallen flowers are pretty on lawns (but slippery on pavement). Will be damaged by freezes but comes back strong after moderate freeze.

Eng.: Black poui, jacaranda. Bot. syn.: Jacaranda acutifolia auct. non Humb. et Bonpl., Jacaranda ovalifolia R.Br.

Did you know that...
Jacaranda requires annual pruning in the spring, pinching the ends of the shoots to form a beautiful crown. Over time, the lower part of the stems becomes bare, old leaves die off. Therefore, to improve the appearance of the plant, it is either rejuvenated by cutting and rooting cuttings. Or rooted cuttings are planted to the old plant.
In order for the crown to develop evenly and be well-foliated, make sure that the lighting is uniform, and not just from above or from the side.
